The Resurrection of Jesus
The resurrection of Jesus is the one historical fact everything hinges on for Christianity - in fact, the apostle Paul, one of Jesus' first followers, makes exactly this point in a letter to an early church:
"And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith ... For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied." (1 Cor 15:14-19)
The resurrection of Jesus is something all the billions of Christians who have lived down through the ages have believed - 3 to 8 billion, depending on how you estimate. That’s an awful lot of people to write off as just weak-minded or gullible.
